Retiring From A Long-Term Career

What does that look like?

Well, it’s been two months since I retired from my career of 26+ years. May 10, 2022, marks my anniversary of 27 years had I stayed at “Corporate America.” This has been a big adjustment. For the first month, I dreamt about my former job every night as if I was still there. It has taken six weeks to recover physically, mentally & emotionally. I found it hard to let go of my former workplace.

In the last two weeks, I have noticed a significant difference in my energy level. I’m eager to start my day w/ stretching, which is new to me. I found myself just going through the motions, day in & day out. Well, I am 10lbs heavier than I would like to be, but so much happier! By utilizing my flexible hours I now have incorporated more exercise & healthier eating habits. This is a must since I’m more sedentary than I used to be. I don’t regret my choice & look forward to new opportunities that await!

Looking Ahead

Though I wish we were traveling more for our YouTube channel called Exploration Crew, our home-based business needs to be tuned up. My husband has been running the business by himself for so long. It has been a privilege to partner with my husband & build up our web service business to run more efficiently & effectively. I finally get to put good use to the skills I learned over the years & learn many more as I get acclimated to my new job!

What would I say to someone who was thinking about a career change? I would say Go For it! Dana & I contemplated the idea of me retiring for the last three years & then this last year was just a matter of when. We realized that if we didn’t take that leap of faith, it wouldn’t happen. Obstacles & excuses of many would stand in the way each time. So we are ecstatic to be working together & living the life we envisioned for so long.
